Approval by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Higher Ground Neighborhood Development Corp (HG), Oakland, CA, for the latter to support parent engagement by providing afterschool workshops to teach parents how to support the goals outlined in students behavioral plans to increase academic achievement; provide supervision in common areas such as the cafeteria and playground to support school staff in maintaining a safe environment for students; provide school climate and culture coaches to work collaboratively with site staff to provide activities to enhance the school culture plan and support students who need additional assistance with behavioral or social challenges; provide daytime and afterschool mentoring for students with academic or behavioral plans, including homework assistance, academic enrichment based on school-wide goals in literacy and mathematics and social emotional learning; work with parents and teachers to develop a common understanding of the student’s academic and behavioral goals to ensure that all parties know their roles and responsibilities and extend support from the school to the home environment at New Highland Academy, for the term August 21, 2017 through June 29, 2018, at a cost not to exceed $40,000.00.
