Title: Approval by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Girls, Incorporated of Alameda County, Oakland, CA, for the latter to launch a 4-hour Early Learning/Early Literacy Institute open to any after school program staff working with students in grades TK-3; initial training institute will ground program staff on the early literacy and social emotional developmental needs of younger elementary students; facilitate a total of six Early Literacy learning community sessions for program staff of up to 12 elementary after school sites; Early Literacy Learning community sessions will last two hours each, increasing academic language production in after school programs, using effective reading strategies, selecting age appropriate reading, and fostering academic language, via the Community Schools and Student Services Department, for the period of October 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, in an amount not to exceed $13,500.00.
