Title: Approval by the Board of Education of a Memorandum of Understanding Between A Nonprofit Organization - Lincoln Child Center, Oakland, CA, and the District, for the latter to provide two case managers to four schools - Hoover Elementary School, Lafayette Elementary School, Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School and Place@Prescott Elementary School - to apply a strengths based approach and support a total of 50 chronically absent families to improve attendance and reading levels; with case managers spending 20 hours each week at their assigned schools under the West Oakland Initiative; helping families develop and achieve goals to improve their level of engagement in the educational process, via the Community Schools and Student Services Department, for the period of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016, at no cost to the District.
