Title: Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Zack Reidman, Berkeley, CA, for the latter to expand a community garden at Oakland International High School and the Lakeview Campus; consultant will oversee family outreach and the on-boarding, building of the garden beds, planting, necessary materials and donations, and the development and implementation of a garden based ELD and health curriculum; refugee families who participate in the garden will have a plot of rich soil to grow their own food and work with their family and others from the community; families will practice and improve their English and increase their comfort and experience interfacing with OUSD staff and an OUSD building which, in turn, will increase their comfort interacting with their child's school in support of the Refugee and Asylee Program for the period of September 1, 2014 through October 15, 2014, in an amount not to exceed $2,000.00.
