Title: Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between District and Yari A. Ojeda Sandel, Lafayette, CA, for the latter to provide 1092 hours of service as the Middle School Conflict Mediation Coordinator, providing direct on-site services by collaborating with the site staff to identify and recruit 5 to 10 peer mediators (11 to 14 years old) that reflect the racial, ethnic and academic diversity of the school; provide said students with training in the mediation process, effective communications, problem solving and restorative practices; have peer mediators work in pairs to help peers involved in a dispute to resolve the differences and repair their relationship; coach peer mediators to conduct an average of 20 to 35 conflict mediations and support the school site in creating a safe, healthy and supportive school environment for students through the framework of restorative practices, for the period of September 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013, in an amount ...
