Approval by the Board of Education of a Services Agreement 2026-2027 by and between the District and East Bay Asian Youth Center, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide family engagement, parent leadership, student support, and community-based services including organizing, training, and supporting a Parent Leadership Council consisting of parents representing the school’s multiracial, multiethnic, and multilingual community; provide daily structured and guided recreational activities for students during lunch periods including promotion of positive peer interactions, cooperation, physical activity, social-emotional development, and a safe and engaging school environment; managing the Family Resource Center and its daily operations, providing families with access to essential resources and support, including the distribution of food, clothing, diapers, school supplies, and other basic necessities; access to computer workstations; meeting space and materials; case management assistance and referrals; and support for Lotus Bloom Family Play Groups; collaboration with school staff to plan and implement Tier 1 and Tier 2 intervention strategies for all Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms, as well as school-wide Tier One strategies designed to increase satisfactory student attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism, including Parent Cafes, classroom attendance recognitions, Check-In/Check-Out supports, and Home Visits to identify barriers to attendance, strengthen relationships with families, and connect families with appropriate resources and daily structured and guided recreational activities for students during lunch to promote positive interactions, physical activity and a safe and engaging school environment at Garfield Elementary School, for the period of September 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, in an amount not to exceed $65,000.00.
