Title: Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Hecheng Liu, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide the Purple Silk Music Education Foundation Residency Program designed to introduce students to the joy of music, to support and enhance classroom curriculum through in-depth, sequential instruction in traditional Chinese musical instruments, folk music and opera, serving grades three through five through instruction and rehearsals for a total of 36 weeks; teach students musical techniques, note reading, proper phrasing of Chinese and other multicultural song and orchestra music; and provide instruction on the history of Chinese and Asian music and use music and songs to teach students about history as well as increased illiteracy and History and Language Arts, at Lincoln Elementary School, for the term of September 1, 2014 through May 31, 2015, at a cost not to exceed $6,500.00.
