Title
Approval by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and S&S Math Services, LLC, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide 237.5 hours of guiding and facilitating the continuing development of a rigorous mathematics program; work with teachers and administrators to improve mathematics achievement of the students by futuring the development of a rigourous mathematics program; elements of this program will include 1) deepening teacher content knowledge through ongoing professional development and grade level meetings, 2) building whole-school mathematics practices, including a fact mastery program, lesson planning frameworks, ongoing standards-based assessment, math journals and gradual release for independent student work, 3) creating protocols and structure to align instruction to the school's vision for student engagment, with special emphasis given to the critical role of dialogue in conceptual mathematics acquisition at Glenview Elementary School, for the period of May 1, 2011 through June 30, 2011, in an amount not to exceed $19,000.00.
