Title: Approval by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and East Bay Asian Youth Center, Oakland, CA, for the latter support Tier 1 and Tier 2 socio-emotional interventions for newly arrived immigrant students grappling with the adverse impacts of poverty and trauma, including: 1) In-depth student orientations and wellness checks as new students enroll in Oakland International High School (OHIS) ; 2) Restorative Justice Circles and Community Building activities; 3) Mentorship services, connections to caring adults and peer leaders; 4) Wellness Trips and excursions to build community, resiliency, and a sense of connectedness; 5) Early connections to behavioral health interventions - in advance of crisis situations; and 6) Ongoing "Wellness Checks" for students struggling with behavioral health issues, and follow-up case management at OIHS, for the period of January 1, 2020 through June 30, 2020, in an amount not to exceed $40,000.00.
