Title

Ratification by the Board of Education of a Services Agreement 2025-2026 by and between the District and American Association of Yemeni Students and Professionals, Dearborn, MI, for the latter to provide recruitment, training, and supervision of high school and college students to serve as literacy mentors, providing academic support and cultivating leadership skills through a targeted SIPPS-focused literacy (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics and Sight Words) intervention and a structured pipeline in partnership with the Office of Equity at five OUSD school sites: Lockwood, Hoover, Allendale, West Oakland Middle School and Castlemont High School, with services including weekly culturally responsive read-alouds, lesson development, and integration of storytelling and oral literature practices to engage newcomer students; co-lead an Arab Advisory group in collaboration with the Office of Equity’s Arab American Targeted Specialist, serving approximately 20-25 students, and provide ongoing culturally responsive parent engagement through translated workshops, family resource events, and community partnerships with organizations and additional services, as described in Exhibit A of Agreement, incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth,  via Office of Equity, for the period of August 25, 2025 through May 28, 2026, in an amount not to exceed $60,000.00.
