Special Meeting - Appointed Members Sitting In Joint Session as City-District Education Partnership Committee
The Governing Board, commonly called the Board of Education, is the elected (seven members) and student elected ( two student, preferential voting) policy-making body of the 39,000 K-12 student, 32,000 adult, 6,000 plus employee public education system within the City of Oakland, California. The Governing Board's primary responsibility, among others, is to ensure that every student served by the District is well educated and demonstrates high academic achievement. The Board holds full power in all areas of District Governance: Community Relations and Governance, Personnel Management, Facilities Management, Pupil Achievement and Financial Management.
