MIDDLE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT ACT OVERSIGHT COMMISSION CHARGE OR

The Measure G1 – Districtwide Teacher Retention and Middle School  
Improvement Act Oversight Commission shall advise and report to the Board  
of Education and shall be responsible for (a) oversight of proper allocation  
and use of all parcel tax monies, (b) reviewing annual independent audit  
reports, and (c) submitting recommendations to the Board of Education for  
any new or modified policies and administrative regulations to ensure the  
Oakland Unified School District’s compliance with the requirements and  
intent of Measure G1.

World Languages is not to provide access to students in grades 6-8 to learn  
about World Language(s) but to provide access to students in grades 6-8 to  
acquire a World Language(s)  
- Provide a detailed breakdown of expenses for line item No. 2 and reconsider  
where said item is classified as positive school culture or World Language  
Programs.  
Vice Chairperson Grover stated her recommendation for line item No. 5:

"This would be for 23-24. As courses are set for 22-23."  
Dr. Dolores Thompson, Oakland School for the Arts Administrator, explained  
the dates stated in the Minutes was a typo and the proposed vocal class will

A debriefing by Measure G1 Commission of individual Commissioners’  
school site visit to Roosevelt Middle School on November 16, 2022.  
Vice Chairperson Grover and Commissioner Chun debriefed the Commission  
on their school site visit to Roosevelt Middle School on November 16, 2022  
and had a discussion with Commission Members.  
The Music teacher at Roosevelt Middle School expressed concerns  
regarding:  
- Measure G1 Grant Application Funds being pushed to Carryover due to  
Grant Application Funds not being disbursed in a timely fashion.  
- Issues concerning Purchase Orders (P.O.) for music instruments.  
Vice Chairperson Grover, as a result of her visit, requested an Escape report  
of Measure G1 Purchase Orders to track how Measure G1 Funding is being  
disbursed.
