AND MIDDLE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT ACT OVERSIGHT COMMISSION  
CHARGE OR RESPONSIBILITIES  
The Measure G1 – Districtwide Teacher Retention and Middle School  
Improvement Act Oversight Commission shall advise and report to the  
Board of Education and shall be responsible for (a) oversight of proper  
allocation and use of all parcel tax monies, (b) reviewing annual  
independent audit reports, and (c) submitting recommendations to the  
Board of Education for any new or modified policies and administrative  
regulations to ensure the Oakland Unified School District’s compliance with  
the requirements and intent of Measure G1.

$2,500.00 allocated to 15 students in Kindergarten. Measure G1 funding is  
specifically for Middle (6-8 grade) Students and programs.  
Kayli Chi, Administrator, Francophone Charter School of Oakland, stated  
that staff will Amend the Carryover Funding Request to request proposals  
specifically for Middle School students.  
Commission Riley expressed concerns regarding 3. World Language  
Program on pdf pg. 4 of the Carryover Justification Long Form that there will  
be $1,573.00 allocated to offer all students TK-8 leveled books to read in  
classrooms and take home to practice French Language.  
Kayli Chi stated that Middle (6-8 grade) School students, depending upon  
their comprehension level, are given TK-8 leveled books when learning new  
languages.  
Superintendent Hong informed Kayli Chi that Measure G1 funding is  
specifically for Middle (6-8 grade) School students and the Carryover  
request should reflect the data for and proposal(s) for Middle School grade  
students.
