BOARD BYLAW 9131 - MEASURE G1 - DISTRICTWIDE TEACHER RETENTION AND

MIDDLE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT ACT OVERSIGHT COMMISSION CHARGE OR

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Measure G1 – Districtwide Teacher Retention and Middle School

Improvement Act Oversight Commission shall advise and report to the Board

of Education and shall be responsible for (a) oversight of proper allocation

and use of all parcel tax monies, (b) reviewing annual independent audit

reports, and (c) submitting recommendations to the Board of Education for

any new or modified policies and administrative regulations to ensure the

Oakland Unified School District’s compliance with the requirements and

intent of Measure G1.

Improvement Act Oversight Commission - Site Visit Debriefing of

Named Schools Sites and Dates

A debriefing by Measure G1 Commission of individual Commissioners’

School Site Visits for the following named schools and dates:

Melrose Leadership Academy - January 25, 2024

Oakland Charter Academy - January 17, 2024

Lazear Charter Academy - February 5, 2024

Ascend (K-8) Elementary School - February 20, 2024

Melrose Leadership Academy - January 25, 2024:

- Vice Chairperson Muhammad gave a report on the Site Visit to Melrose

Leadership Academy. G1 Funding was used to hire a Community School

Manager. In the next G1 allocation, Melrose Leadership Academy plan to

decrease it's Full Time Equivalent (FTE) from .4 to .25 and use the additional

G1 Funds to expand their Middle School band, and hire a Middle School

Counselor.

Oakland Charter Academy - January 17, 2024

- Commission Martinez gave a report on the Site Visit to Oakland Charter

Academy, A portion of G1 Funds goes to After School programs.

Lazear Charter Academy - February 5, 2024

- Commissioner Martinez gave a report on the Site Visit to Lazear Charter

Academy. A portion of the G1 Funds goes to the Dean of Students salary.

Ascend (K-8) Elementary School - February 20, 2024

- Vice Chairperson Muhammad gave a report on the Site Visit to Ascend

Elementary. G1 Funds are used to support Dean of Culture position at

Ascend who is currently .8 FTE.

School Improvement Act Oversight Measure G1 Commission, by Middle

School Network Superintendent or Designee, on the status of the

Commission's proposed Amended, Administrative Regulations for the

Allocation of Measure G1 Funds adopted and referred to the Board of

Education on January 9, 2024.

Corey Hollis, Administrative Coordinator, gave a brief report on the status of

the Commission's proposed Amended, Administrative Regulations for the

Allocation of Measure G1 Funds adopted and referred to the Board of

Education on January 9, 2024. He stated that the Administrative Regulations

will be submitted to Legal Counsel for review and thereafter will possibly be

sent to the Board of Education for approval.
