American Indian Public Charter (K-8) School (AIPCS) II 2024-2025 Measure
G1 Carryover Funding Request.
Discussion - Secretary Mesa, Vice Chairperson Chan, Chairperson Riley
Julia Li, Administrator, AIPCS II, responded to comments and questions
from the Commission.
Chairperson Riley expressed concerns regarding item 2. 5th grade Field
Trip to Chabot Space & Science Center, in the Summary of Proposed Use
of Carryover for 2024 - 25, due to the funds being primarily for Middle
School students.
Julia Li stated that the 5th grade Field Trip to Chabot Space & Science
Center is intended to support retention of 5th graders moving to the 6th
grade.
Chairperson Riley further expressed that because there are no 6th graders
on the Field Trip to Chabot Space & Science Center, he does not find the
proposed expenditure to be in compliance with Measure G1 funding uses.
Middle School Superintendent Clifford Hong stated that historically Measure
G1 Commission has not approved funding uses specifically for 5th graders.
Karen Lozano, Program Manager Middles School Operations, affirmed
Middle School Superintendent Hong's statement.
Julia Li stated that there will be 6th grade students participating in the Field
Trip with the 5th graders to encourage camaraderie with Middle School
students.
Chairperson Riley requested that AIPCS II revise their 2024-2025 Measure
G1 Carryover Funding Request, specifically item 2. 5th grade Field Trip to
Chabot Space & Science Center, to further explain the connection of the 5th
and 6th grade students during the Field Trip.

Request.
Discussion - Chairperson Riley
Chairperson Riley expressed concerns that the Carryover Funding Request
was only 2 pages long.
Karen Lozano, Program Manager Middle School Operations, stated that due
to the Carryover being a Justification Short Form, which is required for
Carryover Request of less than $5,000.00, does not provide as great of
detail as a Justification Long Form which is required for Carryover Request
of more than $5,000.00.
