Title: Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between District and Teaching Institute for Excellence In STEM (TIES), Cleveland, OH, for the latter to provide 150 hours of service, as consultant, to participate in weekly phone conferences with Mia Settles-Tidwell and Caleb Cheung to build the foundation for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education in West Oakland; to create and distribute STEM readiness online survey to six West Oakland schools (PLACE @ Prescott, Lafayette, Hoover, Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary; West Oakland Middle, and McClymonds High Schools) surveying approximately 6 principals, 1 assistant principal, approximately 250-300 teachers/staff members; analyze results of survey and make recommendations for next steps in STEM education processes for West Oakland, for the period February 15, 2012 through June 30, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $15,000.00.
